What is gingivitis?
Gingivitis is the beginning stages of gum disease. It is inflammation of the gums caused by a bacterial infection. If left untreated gingivitis can turn into periodontal disease (bone loss). If you are diagnosed with gingivitis we will use an ultrasonic instrument and hand instruments to flush out the bacteria causing the inflammation. You may need to be seen more frequently to prevent gingivitis from reoccurring.
